1. any one of a genus of Eurasian and African herbs with prickly stems and flower heads, such as the fuller's teasel.
2. the dried flower head or burr of fuller's teasel, used for raising nap on cloth.
3. a brush with hooked prongs used for the same purpose.
–v.t.
to raise a nap on (cloth) with teasels; dress with teasels. Also teazel, teazle.
